| Hot Dog
There is no denying that the hot dog is recognized around the world as the quintessential American food. But where did this delicious and sometimes mysterious meaty treat come from originally? Hot dogs were said to be brought over to the states in 1867 by entrepreneur Charles Feltman who simply took a Vienna Sausage and put it in a roll and called it a “Coney Island Red Hot”. It caught on quickly and soon became famous throughout the states becoming an American staple. There are beef hot dogs and pork hot dogs, and sometimes a mix of the two. They can be served with sauerkraut or ketchup or mustard, pickles, onions, chili, cheese and more. Or all of the above. |
